Final Blog 2015

Our year at this school has finally came to an end. I am blessed to have grown in Faith, Hope and Love with my fellow peers. I will truly miss Saint Pius X Catholic School. Farewell.

Communion of Saints

PAT Maths Test

This morning Room 7 had a PAT maths test. Maths was my strongest subject. I looking forward to the test along with my friends I was very nervous because in my reading test I didn't do well. I did my VERY BEST to finish the test. 

During the test, the questions got harder and harder.  When I finished the test I felt like I did well along with my class room mates. 

Touch, Kiwisport

In this picture, it shows us that we were listening to the instructor. It was my first Touch lesson. I was very excited to play. Our instructor taught us some moves for Touch. We were splitted into two teams. I was in the yellow team. We played a game called Breakout. I had a wonderful time in my first Touch lesson. I have learnt a lot of moves and hope I can use them in a Touch game.

Recount Writing

In the last day of the holidays, my family and I went to Valentines & Movies to celebrate White Sunday. It was a beautiful and sunny day. First of all we went to Church. The church was full of people in white clothes. After it had finished we went home and got changed. After we got organised, we jumped on the car and off we went. First we went to Valentines. Once we reached Valentines I saw a crowd of people heading inside. We parked our car and proceeded inside.

When I got inside the reception area, my Mum booked a table and we all went inside. The place was full of island people. We looked for our table and headed to get our food. It took a long time to get our food. While we moved along all the plates, forks, knives and spoon runs out. Finally we had got our food. We headed back to the table and ate. I had fish & chips with a burger. Once we had finished, we got our dessert, the dessert was rich and delicious.

Later on we had headed off to the Movies. I was still hungry. It took along time to get to Sylvia Park because of the traffic. From time to time we had finally got there. My Mum and my sisters went to get popcorn and drinks while me and my brother wandered around. We gazed at the clothing and the games. Next we headed up to the cinemas.

We booked a movie and headed to the gaming room. The movie we were going to watch was Pixels. We waited until the movie started. While we were waiting, my mum gave me $2 to play a game. It was time to watch the movie but first we had to hand over the tickets. Once we got inside, the movie had already started. The room was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. We got to our seat and brought out the popcorn and drinks.

The movie was loud and good. After a great day, we travelled back home and went to sleep to get ready for school the next day.

Today's Experience

On September 18th, our school had a lovely mass because it was Grandparents Day. Following on, we had a little lunch at the library to celebrate. After that we had a speech competition. There were lot after great speeches that presented. It was finally lunch time!! The boys and I were getting the sausage sizzles ready for the school. Afterwards, the students were dancing there hearts outs. Overall, today was a great day and hopefully we can do it again.

Geometry

Today we have been learning about Geometry. We are going to learn about the Position, Measurement and Movement of a shape

My First Hockey Experience

In the morning, Room 7 witnessed a new sport to the school called Hockey. I was looking forward to Hockey because I wanted to know more of the sport. It hit the time of 9:45 and we all lined up outside the hall. The instructor told us to come inside and place ourselves down.

We placed ourselves down and waited for the other people to come. We started our kiwi-sport with a warm - up. Our first warm - up was a relay. Next we moved on to the monkey crawl. It was difficult to find our grip because it the floor is slippery. Later, the instructor told us to stand next to the hockey stick.

He told us our to hold the grip and the rules in the hockey. After we got that, the instructor directed us to grab a ball and find a space to yourself. Then, instructor taught us some hockey dribbling moves. Then we moved on to a challenge.

We had to hit the ball with the hockey stick as much as we could within a minute. I managed to get 62, that was my high score. With a few minutes left, we played a game. It was fun and dangerous because everyone swung the hockey stick.

I had a really good time.  

A visit from the Warriors!!!

On Wednesday morning, we had a surprising visit from the Vodafone Warriors. We were all exciting to see them. We had to players on came along, there name are Ken Maumalo and David Bhana. First of all, we started the day with our school prayer. Afterwards, Ken and David introduce themselves. Next, we played some games. The first game we played were like “Who Am I.” When the game finished, me and the boys in Room 7 played some activities. I had lot of fun. After the activities, Ken and David gave us some prizes. Some had a ball and others got a Warrior's water - bottle. It was time to ask questions. Some asked about there career and about there likes and dislikes. It was sadly time to end the fun but before we ended it we got a chance to have a few photo’s with them.

How Maui Slowed The Sun

This week is Maori week. For Maori week, we have to choose a Maori legend and talk about there story. Our Maori legend is Maui and our story is "How Maui Slowed The Sun". We also drawed a picture to go with the story. 

A Visit To Taiwan

It was the end of the day at school, I and some of the students in my class went to go visit Taiwan, my friend, in the hospital.  We were all excited to see him. We got our bags and waited for Mrs Tui.  While we were waiting, we wandered through the hallway looking at the class photo’s.

Finally Mrs Tui’s meeting was over.  We squashed through Mrs Tui’s little car and off we went.  While we were waiting to get there, Mrs Tui turned up the volume and we all listened to music.

Finally we arrived to the hospital, we were feeling very happy to see him.  We went to the Auckland Hospital to buy balloons and flowers for Taiwan.  We brought all the stuff and went to Starship.

Once we arrived, we didn't know what ward he was in. We asked the nurse for his Ward and she responded that he was in Level 5, Ward 9.  Eventually we found the ward, he was so happy to see us. Christopher said a little prayer before we started to talk to him. We give him the flowers and balloons. We had a little talk to him about his legs.

Sadly we had to say goodbye. I was very sad to say goodbye to a good friend.    

My Holiday Recount

It was the last two days of the holidays and I spent the last week at my cousin house. It was a rainy and muddy saturday. We were going to see my cousin’s game. We all got up and got organised. My cousin was full of excitement because he was looking forward for this game all week.

We sprinted to the car with a towel over our heads. The rain was pouring down very quickly. My uncle raced to the game because we were late. The traffic was very busy. While we were waiting, we were listening to songs.

Finally we arrived to the game, but it already started. My auntie took him to his team, while I stayed at the car with my uncle. “ Who is Christian challenging?” I asked. “ Papatoetoe” he responded. We rush to the other side of the car park and watch the game from there.

We didn’t go outside because it was raining. The rain pour very fast and heavy. I couldn’t see the game probably through the window. From time to time the rain got heavier and the grounds got more muddy. My uncle and I was really proud of  Christian because he was running hard and was tackling strong. Finally the game had finish.

We were all proud of him especially his Dad. After the game, we went and had a feed.

Lectio Divina

Today in R.E I have learnt Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina is a type of traditional prayer that has prayerful reading. Here is my Lectio Divina prayer.

Dear God,

I would like to thank you forgiving me for all the bad things I have done. I ask that you may help me to forgive those around me. AMEN

Lectio Divina is a prayer that helps me a lot. It has taught me a different way to pray.
